Controversial coach takes charge of Pakistan Emerging team

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Ejaz Ahmed (junior) as the head coach of Pakistan team for the upcoming Emerging Asia Cup.
According to Daily Express, the 49-year-old — who represented Pakistan in only two Tests and similar number of One-Day Internationals (ODI) — was accused of fixing during a domestic game in Faisalabad, a few years ago.
When the board came to know about his activities, the cricket regulatory authority started probe against him. He was later sacked after being found guilty.
However, now he has not only been brought back into the setup once again and is also getting promotions on regular intervals.
Due to his financial issues, a few high profile officials in Islamabad intervened and got him reinstated on his post after a few years. At that time, he was given responsibilities to coach several junior teams — who failed to perform up to the mark.
Interestingly, despite his poor coaching performance with junior teams, he has now been assigned to coach Pakistan team in upcoming Emerging Asia Cup in Karachi.
Former cricketers and officials at the National Cricket Academy are concerned and unhappy with this decision of the board.
When our correspondent asked PCB spokesperson about their view on the matter, he said: “When PCB reduced the coaching staff, Ahmed was dismissed as well. We found nothing in the investigation against him.”

The State Bank of Pakistan will also announce a monetary policy for the next two months on Friday. The current SBP policy rate is 8.50 per cent while sources have said that in light of the IMF’s recommendations, a 100 base point increase in the interest rate is possible.

On October 16, 2018, the rupee hit a historic low, closing at Rs 133.85 to the US dollar.

Clear dues or we will cash bank guarantee, PCB threatens PSL franchises

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has threatened to cash bank guarantee if Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises failed to deposit their annual fees by 2 PM on December 3.
The situation became tense suddenly on Wednesday when PCB’s Chief Financial Officer Badar Manzoor sent an email to all the franchises.
According to Daily Express, he used some treating words in the email and gave the deadline of December 3 to clear all dues or the board will cash their bank guarantees.
Interestingly, one franchise hasn’t even deposited its Bank guarantee yet. The franchise only deposited half of the actual amount.
According to the procedure, the board has a legal right to cash the bank guarantee after issuing notice to the defaulter franchises — a procedure which the board adopted earlier as well.
Franchises are unhappy with this behavior of the board as they are currently in the negotiation with the government to get relaxation in taxes.
The board had issued the invoice on November 16 and asked all franchises to immediately clear their remaining dues.
During the meeting in Islamabad, a franchise owner had asked the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani to return their bank guarantee so they will be able to pay the annual fee. Following that demand, others joined in over the same stance, a source from inside the board reported. However, the board refused to accept this demand.

Volkswagen Karachi Assembly Plant Agreement

Volkswagen has signed the final agreement with Pakistan Premier Motors (PML) to manufacture and assemble the commercial vehicles in Pakistan. The agreement was signed between the two companies and it is based on licensing contract of completely knock down (CKD) assembly plant in Karachi.

The largest automobile manufacturer of the world has made the collaboration with authorized importer of Audi cars in Pakistan to assemble Transporter T-6, Amarok, Skoda and Caddy.

This project will help to supply the vehicle in the country and it would prove to be great contribution to automotive industry of Pakistan. Volkswagen Karachi Assembly Plant Agreement was signed between Volkswagen and Pakistan Premier Motors.

Details of VW Projects

It is expected that VW project will generate maximum of 500 million euros annually in exports and 200 milion euros in duties and taxes for Pakistan. these figures show that the German automobile company is making plan to export the vehicles from Pakistan to other countries in this region.

When the first phase will be started, Volkswagen will assemble 28,000 units T-6 light commercial vehicles and Amarok. In the second phase, this company will assemble Caddy and in the final phase, it will assemble Skoda vehicles. These projects will generate 5400 jobs with 1400 being direct ones.

The commercial wing of Pakistan in Berlin is engaged with two companies for last two years and the efforts have shown the signing of letter of intent on 22 June 2017.

End of Monopoly of Japanese Assemblers

The French automobile maker, Renault has made the partnership with Al-Futtaim to launch their vehicles in Pakistani market. There are some other South Korean and Chinese new entrants, who want to launch their vehicles in Pakistani market.
Now the domination of three Japanese assemblers will be finished in Pakistan because they did not localize the production of car for many years. It is necessary to mention here that previous government launched the Automotive Development Policy 2016-2021 and it will help to break the monopoly of three Japanese assemblers in the automotive sector of Pakistan.

England Australia qualify for Women’s World T20 final

England marched into the final of the Women's World T20 with a commanding eight-wicket victory over India in the second semi-final at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Thursday.
After limiting the previously unbeaten Indians to 112 all out off 19.3 overs, the English made light work of a potentially tricky target with an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 94 between "Player of the Match" Amy Jones (53 not out) and all-rounder Natalie Sciver (52 not out) seeing them home with almost three overs to spare.
That second result formalised another meeting of the traditional Ashes rivals in Saturday's final at the same venue after Australia dashed the hopes of title-holders and hosts West Indies with a crushing 71-run win in the first match of the semi-final double-header.
Alyssa Healy was again the outstanding performer with the bat for the three-time champions, her top-score of 46 helping to lift the Aussies to a competitive 142 for five batting first. It was enough to earn her a fourth "Player of the Match" award in five matches at this tournament after the 2016 champions were routed for just 71 off 17.3 overs.
That result was a massive disappointment for a huge home crowd but reinforced the consistent excellence of the top-ranked team in the women's T20 game who by that result went some way towards making amends for losing the final to the Caribbean side in Kolkata two-and-a-half years ago.
Any hopes for a thrilling second semi-final also disappeared after the Indians lost their last eight wickets for just 23 runs after choosing to bat first.
England captain Heather Knight finished with three for nine with her off-spinners on a helpful pitch while Kirstie Gordon was another of the slow bowlers to capitalise on the conditions. Her spell of two for 20 included the all-important wicket of captain and star batter Harmanpreet Kaur.
That dismissal was the trigger for the long collapse which frittered away the benefits of the earlier work by opener Smriti Mandhana, who top-scored with 34, and Jemimah Rodriges, who contributed a run-a-ball 26.
In a surprise decision, the previously unbeaten Indians did not recall experienced batter Mithali Raj into the final eleven, choosing to retain the same team which defeated Australia in their final group game in Guyana five days earlier.
West Indies, who were also unchanged for the fourth straight match, were again let down by their top-order batting in pursuit of a target of 143 to get the final.
Sharp work by Healy behind the stumps ran out Hayley Matthews and when the excellent Ellyse Perry accounted for the dangerous Deandra Dottin and middle-order player Shemaine Campbell for just two runs off two overs, the West Indies swiftly disintegrated with only captain Stafanie Taylor (16) getting into double-figures.
